Self-taught artist turns to fairy tales and problems of society

Sometimes that creativity lovers sinks into the soul more than the masterpieces of professionals. Fans of fine art without art education often do not see the author of technical errors, but can appreciate the originality and expressiveness of his works. One of the best examples of this phenomenon can be called the exhibition Alexander Makarov "Catcher clouds." North Sea artist without special education opened a solo exhibition of paintings in the gallery "space", hitting visitors with its eccentricity.

In general, Alexander Makarov has something to surprise people. Having served for many years in the border troops and the Northern Fleet, he now works in the North Sea museum and exhibition complex. Not having an art education, took up painting for about ten years ago. In his spare time goes hiking with friends on the Kola Peninsula, Hitchhiker's Guide to Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Syria. Interested in numismatics and archeology.

However, exposure is almost no landscapes painted in distant lands or in the Arctic tundra, or pictures related to service in the armed forces. Many of the works of Alexander could be attributed to the genre of fantasy. Most of the stories and characters in the movie are fictitious. Among them, there is, perhaps, no classical landscape or portrait. Solid stories and metaphors.

- All this from childhood. Good grandmother's stories, fairy tales, - says Alexander. - And indeed in the world there are many inexplicable. The images in my head there by themselves, then they modify. Sometimes it takes several years. Now I regret that there is no education. Difficult to implement some of the ideas. We have to learn at random.

Many of the works of Alexander forced to think about philosophical questions. "Eternal Party", depicting an angel and a demon game of billiards - it is a struggle between good and evil. Raises the problem of the gray mass drawing titled "From the series ...". The artist painted a rag doll, flying away from the crowds like her on a bright orange balloon. But to unravel the mystery of painting "Catcher clouds", which gave its name to the exhibition alone will not succeed, probably none of the visitors gallery. The author had to tell, what is the point he put into it.

- If you observe a clear hot day the little clouds in the sky, you can see how they gradually dissolve, - began to explain Alexander Makarov, author of the exhibition. - In life there as well. We do not attach importance to so many things that can suddenly disappear. For example, people with whom I talk, old beautiful houses that wanted to take a picture. People die, and die in a fire at home or are being demolished. Need to seize the moment, until he passed.
